Welcome!
About us-
Weimaraner Rescue Of The North is a small, foster based rescue helping Weimaraner's, Weim mix's, and any dog we can help.
Our motto-
"Making the world a better place, one Weim at a time"
If you can, please take a moment to "like" us on Facebook, that is where you will find up to date information on volunteering and fostering opportunities!
Notice something different about our logo? We are teaming up with New York State Weimaraner Rescue (NYSWR) and merging into one group. We will still help Weimaraner's and Weim mix's in neighboring states and wherever we can make a difference! Weimaraner Rescue Of The North (WRN), now merged with NYSWR, is a 501(c)3 federally recognized charitable organization, meaning any donations are tax deductible. NYSWR + WRN
Merging together to make the world a better place, one Weim at a time!

Hope...
Hopes real life fairy tale....
There was once a little weim named Hope. She came into this world and belonged to people who did not have time to potty train her, so they chained her to a dog house and there she stayed for two years.
Everyday she would wish for a better life, where she could run and play...
A kind woman befriended her owner and convinced her to contact a rescue. Hope's luck changed when a group called weim rescue of the north was told her story. Soon after that, she met some nice ladies named Rachel, Liz and Libby. They were like fairy Godmothers to her and took her on a journey far, far away....
Soon afterward, she was able to come into a house and met other nice weims, all with their own stories of how they too were rescued. Hope learned what life was like not being chained to a doghouse, alone and sad. She was happy and grateful, but something was missing...
One fateful day, Hope went for yet another long ride in a car and this time, she met the most wonderful family who promised to love and spoil her for the rest of her life. Hope was never alone and sad again!
The end!

OTIS
We were notified of a weimaraner in poor health who had been forced to live his entire life outside in a NYC suburb. Local animal control had attempted on several occasions to intervene through the years, but the owner refused to surrender the dog and provided the "bare minimum" to just meet the substandard animal care laws here in NYS. So year after year, for 12 years, the poor boy lived out in the frigid winters, in very poor conditions. Finally, due to the dogs rapidly declining health, the owner was willing to release the dog to rescue.
Otis was treated and eventually he was adopted by a loving family, where he lives INSIDE, where he belongs!
LOOK how AMAZING he looks now compared to when he first arrived after living his entire life as an "outside dog".
We love you so much Otis!
His mom Kathleen writes-
"To think he would be out in this (cold weather) makes me sick. He is doing so great! He is the nicest dog ever!!! He gets along with all the neighborhood dogs. Seems to be so at home and comfortable. We think he has definitely put some weight on. I can't wait for the nicer weather. He will be able to run around and get more exercise. He really does not like the snow. We could not be happier to have him in our lives. Thank you!!!!"

WILLOW NEEDS A HOME!!!!
Here at NYSWR/WRN, we do not just help weimaraners. We value the life of all dogs and if we can help,we try our best to
Meet Willow.
Willow is the sweetest girl, quiet, friendly and gentle. Sadly, she was found in the thick brush of a NC forest known for dog dumping. She is emaciated, was COVERED in ticks, HW and Ehrlichiosis positive. Both of her eardrums are ruptured. She had ticks so far down her ear canals she had to have them all removed under sedation. Her ears are obviously in pain but she never pulls away from a hug, she loves people and other dogs so much it breaks my heart to think someone abandoned her. Can you imagine what that must have been like for her?
Her treatment is complete and she is ready for adoption! apply to adopt Willow TODAY!
She is a wonderful girl suitable for an adult only home with dog experienced owners. She is good with other low key dogs, ideally a nice male companion or as an only dog to apply, go to our adopting page
